Bright Spot! 2026 Keep America Beautiful Litter Study Shows Litter is Down Since 2020!

In times of heightened global chaos, humanity's outlook can't help but appear bleak and somewhat hopeless. Ongoing war, terrorism, violence, political division and tension, corruption, and the threat of AI looming over job security have naturally tarnished spirits, leaving many feeling defeated, but not all is bad. 
 
A recent Keep America Beautiful 2026 National Litter Study found that litter is down 34%, an important reminder that we aren’t without hope and that, contrary to popular belief, the state of the planet is actually improving in some areas. At times, it’s easy to forget the quiet yet powerful work some individuals and organizations are doing, with good news easily overshadowed by bad news. Instead of focusing on things out of the average person’s control, we should celebrate and build on our wins while rallying around those leading change.
